Pricing & Contract duration

Fastly's pricing model has three core components. The first component is a flat monthly subscription fee: $50, $500 or $5000. The price depends on number of backends/domains, support level and availability of certain features, like load balancing and custom Varnish configuration. The second component is bandwidth (see table below). Prices start at $0.12/GB for US and Europe and can drop to $0.02. Prices for APAC bandwidth are a lot higher at $1.00/GB, but Fastly explicitly mentions "Pricing in Asia and Australia are not part of the standard service and are negotiable". At Fastly, you also pay for requests: $0.0075 per 10,000 HTTP requests for US and $0.0090 for the rest of the world. HTTPS requests are 33% more expensive. More info on the Fastly pricing page.

Note: custom price plans are very common in the CDN market, especially for large volume customers. We recommend you always talk to the CDN provider about your needs and requirements and work with them to get a best-fit deal.

Features & Support

Fastly has many of the key features, but lacks an offering for Push (customer can upload a file to the CDN). Key features are instant updates and instant purging (only via API), realtime analytics and spike protection. High-end customers can customize the Varnish configuration and Fastly will help do that.
